Singer-Songwriter Josee Allard announced as part of the artist line-up for The Battle of Plattsburgh taking place this Sept 6-9th, 2018 Josee Allard .. Hooks & melodies, a natural gift. When asked what kind of music she plays, Josee answers with: what kind of music does Sheryl Crow play? It's hard to answer because it's a mix of many different genres like folk, country, pop and blues yet her sound is unmistakably hers. With parents from Quebec, Josee grew up speaking French and English in her native Powell River, B.C., and started playing guitar when she was 12 years old. The first song she learned how to play was Hotel California, thanks to her uncle, and then she started to sing harmonies and write songs shortly after. After high school, undecided whether to go to college or travel she decided to back pack across New Zealand for six months. Upon her return she fell immediately in love with a New Yorker named Dave, whom she met at a rock concert on Vancouver Island. They were married within a year and moved to the United States where they made Anacortes, WA their home. This beautiful coastal island town was not only the birthplace of their son Charles, it was also where many of Josee’s feel good songs (Don’t Get Bent) were born! In December 2010 they decided to move east to the Northern Adirondacks. They picked a spot (Merrill) on the map and moved to the North Country without knowing a single person. As you can guess this adventure inspired many songs (Feet on the Ground)!! Josee is currently recording her 5th album with her friend Pascal Dufour (Producer, Singer-Songwriter, The British Show) in Montreal, which also features Elizabeth Blouin-Brathwaite (Daughter of Belle & Bum Music TV Show Host Normand Brathwaite) on percussions and vocals! Hailed as female Jack Johnson, Josee is a multi-instrumentalist feel good singer-songwriter who has played many local venues such as Valcour Brewing & Ausable Brewing, as well as Canadian shows and has become a regular performer during Oktoberfest at Titus Family Mountain! Among many other artists performing over the weekend (See full schedule at www.cityofplattsburgh.com), Josee will be playing The Battle of Plattsburgh Sat, Sept 8th at 5:30-6:30 PM at Olive Ridley’s alongside The Too Tall String Band, Sven Curth and Fulton’s Folly.
